In a picture perfect world, a person would show an inclination towards the exact sciences or the humanities from childhood, choose a profession in high school, graduate from the right university, and find a dream job. And if your choice disappoints you some day, you can accept it and live with it, or take a risk and learn a new trade. But what if you don’t like the new profession either? Alina Monosova, who is not afraid to make a fresh start and has been experimenting and looking for her true calling all her life, knows the answer to this question. This woman’s biography clearly demonstrates that self-efficacy and perseverance will inevitably lead you to success. Her CV includes:
- work on television;
- management positions in large companies;
- work in business consulting;
- launching a mental health services project;
- co-authorship in a telegram channel.
Childhood
Alina Monosova was born in 1990 in Moscow. She spent her childhood in the Sokolniki district. During that time, the girl switched schools three times. Alina graduated from first grade at a regular public school No. 315, where her older brother Andrey and their father, Leonid Monosov, studied earlier too. Then her parents decided to give her a better education and sent her to the private school named Premier. The only drawback of this decision was the long commute — Alina had to spend two hours just to get to the new school. So her fourth-grade year started at yet another place — Moscow Economic School. This is where she studied until the graduation.
Studying was easy for Alina. She was among the best students both in the humanities subjects like Russian language and literature and in the exact sciences like maths and physics. But at the same time, she did not have any obvious preferences that could help her choose a certain career path in the future. She had many different interests and, among other things, she thought about working on television. Click here to know Kristy Greenberg husband name.
Further Education and First Job
After graduating from high school, Alina Monosova entered MGIMO, majoring in Business Administration and International Business. The girl still remembers her student days fondly — she had wonderful classmates, the teaching staff was great, and she had fun studying in general. She received her bachelor’s degree and decided not to continue with the studies for the time being, although her parents wanted her to get a master’s degree.
When she got her first job in one of the departments of Channel One, it was a childhood dream come true. But soon enough, Alina Monosova got disillusioned with television and realized that it was not meant for her.
After quitting this job, she went to study in the UK — as an exchange student at a university in London. She studied international management during the day and spent her free time communicating with other students from around the world. Alina built a lot of meaningful connections in the UK and still keeps in touch with many of her foreign friends.
After returning to Moscow, she began to think about her future. She knew that her parents would support her no matter what she decided to do next; and in the end, she chose to go into the construction industry, following in the footsteps of her father, Leonid Monosov.
Career
Alina Monosova started a job in the marketing and sales department of the Moskapstroy-TN company. She stayed there for about 10 years, during which time she made it to the position of vice president. Alina recalls this period of her life with a warm heart; she liked the atmosphere in the company, enjoyed working with the team, and had challenging but interesting tasks. He responsibilities there included:
- Working with commercial real estate.
- Organizing work and talent management processes.
- Creating and implementing business ideas.
- Monitoring investment projects.
When Alina realized that her further professional growth in this organization was impossible, she decided to leave. Her next employer was Skama Group, a large property management and construction company, where she took on the role of investment manager.
Passion for Psychology and New Projects
While Alina Monosova was building her career, she started studying psychology. She took a course in Personality and Business Psychology at Moscow State University, got certified as a life coach, completed a Gestalt psychology program, and is now continuing her studies in Health Psychology.
What is more interesting is that despite such a thorough study of psychology, she does not plan to work in this field. She acquires the new knowledge for herself, because she is confident that it will help her both in work and life. A better understanding of the communication and sales psychology made it much easier for Alina to find a common language with her friends and family, as well as business partners. That is why she plans to further deepen her knowledge in this area.
Alina Monosova does not dedicate all her time to work and psychology — she also regularly tries to launch various projects. Together with a friend, she created the Odva Volna startup (which means One Wave); it was an application designed to simplify the search for life coaches and mental health counselors using specific requests. The project had a successful start; it found a demand among users and was quickly growing, but at some point Alina realized that it was taking too much of her time. She had to make a choice between her main job and a promising startup — and so the Odva Volna project was cancelled.
But Alina did not abandon the idea of creating and promoting her own project. Today, she has a Telegram channel where she offers advice on how to find your style, where to buy designer clothes, and what fashion trends to follow.
